Dr. Carlos Zarco Alonso is a distinguished physician and healthcare executive with extensive experience in hospital management, quality systems, and international healthcare leadership. After earning his medical degree from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, he spent 12 years leading emergency departments in both public and private hospitals before progressing into senior leadership roles at HLA Moncloa University Hospital, including Quality Coordinator, Medical Deputy, and Medical Director.
He has completed advanced postgraduate studies in healthcare management, quality management, and executive leadership, including programs at IESE Business School and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Throughout his career, he has led major hospital excellence initiatives, implementing internationally recognized quality, environmental, and patient safety standards such as ISO and EFQM frameworks.
Dr. Zarco currently serves as President of the International Health Cooperatives Organisation (IHCO) and General Director of Fundaciรณn Espriu. He is also an experienced lecturer and international speaker, regularly contributing to discussions on healthcare quality, sustainability, innovation, cooperative healthcare systems, and hospital management.
